A few days ago, my spouse and I found a great deal on whole salmon and decided to make pan-grilled salmon fillets for lunch – from scratch! Here is how we did it.

    • Glad you liked it! Skinning salmon is actually not that difficult. The trick is to work your fingers under the skin and lift up a flap that you can hold on to. Then you can pull the skin off like peeling a banana. Latex gloves or a piece of paper will give you a better grip and make it less messy.

Salmon is great if you are on a low-carb/slow-carb diet. It’s nutritious, tasty and the fats in the salmon meat will reduce the glycemic index of the whole meal. Just watch the protein if you’re diabetic as that can also stimulate an insulin response.
